Chrysler uses Flash Drives to fix 1.4 million cars

When security, time, convenience and reliability are paramount, the world’s leading car manufacturers rely on USB Flash Drives to fix the problem.

You have probably heard by now how 2 DEFCON hackers (Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek) managed to take control of someone else’s Chrysler Jeep, controlling the entertainment system, brakes and accelerator with their mobile phone! Either way, what you may not have known is that this monumental security breach is being fixed with the help of USB Flash Drives.

Each of the 1.4 million cars that may be affected have a inbuilt USB Port, through which software can be updated and installed. Owners of the affected vehicles are being advised to download the software fix on to a USB Flash Drive and to follow instructions on how to install it. Others are being sent a USB Flash Drive with the fix pre-installed on to it.

By issuing the software fix on USB Flash Drives Chrysler will avoid the eye-watering costs and inconvenience of having to recall 1.4 million cars.

This is further proof that USB Flash Drives are more than just the worlds greatest marketing tool, they exist to make our lives far more more efficient and much more secure!
